Division of Development and Alumni Relations
The Division of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Georgia advances the goals, objectives, and priorities of the university by generating private financial support, building, and maintaining relationships with alumni and donors, and assisting students with career development opportunities.
Career Center
The University of Georgia Career Center is the provider of centralized career services to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni at The University of Georgia. Career Center staff work collaboratively with faculty and staff of all departments to enhance the career success of University of Georgia students/alumni. Several of the "nuts & bolts" services the UGA Career Center provides to its students include career counseling, job search training, and opportunities to connect with employers.
The Career Center also serves as a corporate gateway to the University by helping employers meet key faculty/staff, understand culture and curriculum, and successfully recruit UGA students and alumni. A broad group of corporate, government, and nonprofit employers recruit at The University of Georgia, and the Career Center facilitates this process through career fairs, on-campus interviews, and a variety of recruiting and educational programs and events.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, human resources, or related field.
  • Doctorate in education, higher education administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in career services, academic affairs, faculty development, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic initiatives and cross-functional collaboration in a higher education environment.
  • Experience engaging faculty in student success or career-related initiatives.
  • Familiarity with current trends in career education, experiential learning, and the integration of career readiness into curriculum.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Career Center's Executive Director, this position is responsible for advancing a university-wide culture of career development by embedding career readiness into the academic experience through intentional faculty engagement. The Director will work across colleges, departments, and administrative units to strategically integrate career education and assignments into curricula and co-curricular activities. The Director will lead the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive faculty engagement strategy, with the ultimate goal of supporting student career success and promoting a "Career Everywhere for Every Bulldog" institutional culture.

Faculty Engagement & Strategic Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision to a core team and offer liaison-based dotted-line oversight to career consultants involved in Academic Integration, with a focus on faculty development and engagement. Provide insight, faculty development toolkit, and consultation to ensure strong communication.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Career Center and academic departments to foster faculty involvement in student career development efforts.
  • Lead the design and execution of a university-wide Faculty Engagement Strategy focused on career development, in alignment with the Career Center's strategic plan.
  • Partner with academic leadership to position career development as a shared institutional responsibility by integrating it into academic policies, departmental practices, and faculty roles.
  • Develop and promote opportunities for faculty to participate in career education efforts, such as workshops, classroom collaborations, career modules, and experiential learning partnerships.
  • Build and manage a faculty recognition process that honors and incentivizes faculty career advocacy through awards, grants, and institutional support.

  • Collaborate with faculty to embed career readiness competencies and labor market awareness into academic courses and programs.
  • Support curriculum development initiatives that align academic learning outcomes with career development goals, including career pathways, transferable skills, and post-graduate planning.
  • Identify and implement scalable models of curricular and co-curricular integration that facilitate student reflection on the connection between academic content and career preparation.
  • Collaborate closely with the UGA Mentor Program to prioritize faculty awareness of the UGA Mentor Program and the integration of mentors into the student experience.
  • Develop a Faculty Fellows program to support new and growing initiatives in Career Services. Faculty Fellows' overall goal is for faculty to help students translate their college experience into skills and credentials that align with UGA Career Competencies for Career Readiness.

  • Lead the development of organizational infrastructure and institutional policies that support and sustain faculty engagement in career education.
  • Collaborate with institutional stakeholders (e.g., Office of Instruction, Center for Teaching and Learning, Student Affairs) to align initiatives and create cross-campus synergy.
  • Serve on relevant university committees and working groups to advocate for career development inclusion in faculty development, general education revisions, and strategic planning efforts.
