Our Summer Internship program gives you the chance to translate what you've learned in the classroom to real-world experience, all while learning and working alongside talented professionals who are passionate about their work. What You'll Experience As a Finance and Contracts intern, you'll get involved in hands-on projects that make a real impact. You'll collaborate with experienced mentors and teams who with help you apply classroom work, from analyzing data and managing budgets to supporting audits and contract negotiations to beyond. Each intern is paired with a dedicated mentor to guide them throughout the summer, ensuring you gain both confidence and practical insight into the internal management and control processes of a major corporation. The Team You may be placed in any of the following areas:
Accounting, Cash Management, Timekeeping, and Payroll: Tracking and managing incurred costs, including labor, accounts payable / receivable and production of weekly / monthly reporting
Audit and Compliance: Reviewing and validating internal procedures and controls and supporting audits by external groups. Business Information System Support / Finance Transformation Team: System and user level support for deployed business information systems and tools. Contract Management: Supporting the management and negotiation of new contracts and change orders on existing contracts, as well as estimating and bid preparation. Finance: Forecasting and analysis of the company's requirements for labor, capital, and capital equipment, including facilities, forward pricing rate development, as well as financial reporting to external organizations. Program Finance: Budgeting, management, and financial control of existing programs, including oversight and operation of the Earned Value Management System.
Program Highlights
- Duration: A minimum of 8 weeks during Summer 2026.
- Location: The position is on-site and you may be placed in any of the following Connecticut locations: Groton, New London, or North Stonington.
- Schedule: First shift position at 40 hours per week. Specific hours are at the discretion of your direct supervisor.
- Relocation Assistance: This internship is not eligible for a housing stipend or relocation assistance.

Qualifications
Required:
- Enrolled full-time at a College or University
- Completed at least 2 academic semesters by May 2026
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. Degree in Accounting, Finances, Business, Management Information Systems, Economics, Math.
Preferred:
- Experience or coursework involving management of large amounts of data.
- Use of Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts to organize and display data.
- Experience with Microsoft PowerBI content creator.
- Experience or coursework using ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) software packages.
- Experience or coursework with SQL or similar databases. Ability to write SQL queries is desirable for some positions.
- Experience or coursework involving programming languages, including Javascript, Visual Basic and C.
- General knowledge of federal acquisition policies and regulations is desirable for Contracts positions
- General familiarity with corporate financial statements and terminology
Skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, especially comfort with reaching out to strangers to ask for information or assistance.
- Ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a team
- A high degree of personal initiative. Most supervisors will not monitor interns closely, so the ability to find new tasks or explore related fields is highly desired.
- Ability to learn new skills and apply them
- Ability to solve problems in a constructive manner.
- Ability to evaluate existing processes and recommend new solutions.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Office)
