Job Description Summary:Manages the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) membership database and its public website and member portal, including specialized web applications.

Manages the NAS website at www.nasonline.org and related online systems, including the implementation of new solutions and enhancements to existing applications. Serves as the primary point of contact with third-party technology providers, internal IT managers, and staff content managers. Monitors website performance and addresses issues and concerns. Advises staff regarding site enhancements. Creates custom forms and other website tools. Performs usability studies, prepares reports, and recommends alterations or solutions.

Manages the planning, maintenance, and quality assurance of membership data within the institution's shared association management software. Implements efficient processes for data collection and maintenance, including the use of imports and APIs to integrate with web applications. Ensures data integrity through regular review. Generates standard and custom reports and queries. Troubleshoots functional issues and manages their resolution. Recommends changes in methods or procedures, process improvements, policy changes, and/or enhancements for existing systems. Participates in cross-divisional database administration teams to address technical and functional challenges and system modifications. Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Coordinates NAS database activities. Manages data verification processes, coordinates data updates, and ensures data integrity. Develops, tests, modifies, and documents data entry processes. Recommends methods and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy. Trains support staff and monitors compliance with processes.

2. Conducts data audits. Analyzes results and recommends improvement to policy, practice, and/or procedure as a result of audit findings.

3. Creates and generates a variety of standard and customized database queries, reports, and exports. Compiles and summarizes data as needed to support analytics. Analyzes data to inform business decisions. Coordinates the dissemination of this information, as appropriate.

4. Responds to staff inquiries and assists with data interpretation and understanding.

5. Troubleshoots issues and coordinates with appropriate internal IT resources to resolve issues.

6. Participates in team activities related to database development and enhancements. Participates in testing and assists with system changes, software upgrades, and new module implementations.

7. Administers the NAS web site at www.nasonline.org. Serves as the primary point of contact for web projects, working with third-party software partners to manage new projects to successful completion.

8. Analyzes web traffic trends and implications and recommends improvements to user experience and internal structure. Prepares site usage and related reports.

9. Participates in technology assessment for the selection of web software technologies and applications. Provides advice and guidance on products and new ways of applying technology.

10. Advises management regarding a broad range of database and website issues and recommends enhancements.

11. Confidentiality: Maintains an appropriate standard of confidentiality. When handling secure, privileged, sensitive, or confidential information and matters, maintains strict confidence and exercises care to prevent disclosure to others. Accesses confidential information for work-related reasons only, following the policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures that any privileged, sensitive, or confidential information is securely stored, disposed of, and transmitted according to the Institutional guidance.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Database management expertise. Solid experience with third-party web applications. Knowledge of web development, HTML, and web content management systems. Strong Excel skills. Excellent project management skills. Ability to solve intellectual problems of some variety and complexity. Ability to operate with appreciable latitude for independent judgement and action. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies' departments. Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees. Excellent customer service and troubleshooting skills. Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness. Impexium and WordPress experience highly preferred.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent knowledge.
Minimum Experience: Three years of related professional experience.
Physical Capabilities: Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: None.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to the manager or director. Sets objectives with supervisor.
Compensation Range: An estimated compensation range for this position is $70,880 - $88,600. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters. Note it is not typical for a candidate to be hired at the higher end of the range. This is a benefits-eligible position. Work Environment: Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, expected onsite percentage 60%, with occasional travel between National Academies' facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.
