Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This is an entry level position. This position's primary responsibilities are the daily sample preparation and data collection within the ACML as directed by the manager. As part of the primary responsibility, this position is responsible for ensuring daily operations are consistent with the priorities as directed by the manager and ensuring that daily data is correct with regards to instrument output, customer request and manager's direction. Additionally, establishing daily queues on each instrument as directed by manager, ensuring instruments are running correctly and without unplanned disruption, and completing instrument maintenance and repairs as directed. You will also help in maintaining and ordering general supplies and finding alternative suppliers to improve costs or performance. This position is responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the lab and for the safe operation of all instruments, equipment and procedures within the ACML.




  • Responsible for performing day-to-day operations, including preparing samples, generating instrument queues and reviewing data.
  • Supports maintenance, repair, and scheduling of laboratory equipment for optimum efficiency and uptime. Supports upgrades, procurement of laboratory equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This is a hands-on position that has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelors Degree required, degree in related materials field preferred
  • No practical experience require, college level laboratory classes or experience is preferred
  • Understanding of lab best practices for Safety



REQUIRED SKILLS:



  • Must be able to learn all equipment in the lab including GC/MS, FTIR, EDXRF, TGA, DSC, DMA, SEM, EDX, digital and general microscopy as well as sample preparation equipment
  • The ability to learn the fundamentals of knowledge of polymers or rubber
  • The ability to learn the fundamentals of metallurgical sciences and other material sciences as needed.
  • Ability to develop a broad knowledge about the practical application of technologies available in the lab along with other relevant analytical technologies
  • Must be able to learn maintenance of equipment as needed and the development of new methods to meet internal and external customer needs
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in order to communicate complex technical analysis to a wide variety of associates and customers
  • Participates in the planning and completion of activities in a team environment
  • Understanding and ability to apply concepts of testing and measurements
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn other ERP systems, such as Oracle and other programs used within the engineering profession
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Pay & Benefits



  • Full-Time
  • Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $35.00
  • Relocation is not provided
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits beginonthe first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
