Title: SDOH Policy Division Assistant

$23.23 - $35.56 / Posted Thru: 10-24-25

Funded Thru: 9-30-2026



Purpose: The SDOH Policy Division Assistant will serve as a Departmental Technician, providing high-level administrative support to the SDOH Policy Director and the division team. The Division has a comprehensive statewide portfolio of projects and an extensive list of partners. This position is responsible for managing schedules, coordinating meetings, preparing correspondence, and maintaining organized records. The role requires strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Oversee and maintain the SDOH Policy shared inbox, including triaging incoming messages and routing inquiries to appropriate team members or divisions.
  • Coordinate meetings and events, including scheduling, preparing agendas, note-taking, distributing minutes, and following up on action items.
  • Serve as SDOH Policy team project manager, managing bi-weekly team calls, compiling updates from staff, and creating concise meeting summaries for leadership.
  • Support planning and logistics for in-person meetings, workshops, and events, including same-day coordination and on-site assistance.
  • Provide general office and administrative support to maintain smooth daily operations within the Division.
  • Assist with tracking deliverables, timelines, and action items across division projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain organized files, records, and shared documentation related to SDOH Policy activities and projects.
  • Provide daily administrative support to the SDOH Policy Director and division staff.
  • Responsible for monitoring deliverables and ensuring deadlines are met as agreed upon.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:



Education: High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred.



Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a secretary or office assistant



Important Skills and Characteristics:



  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative or secretarial support in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience supporting leadership or working within a public health, policy, or government environment preferred.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Position has potential for fully remote or hybrid work (subject to Office of the State Employer determinations on State of Michigan Work from Home Policy and MDHHS epidemic orders). If in-person work is required, this position will be based in Lansing and may require limited in-state travel. Requires a valid vehicle operator's license and access to a vehicle to attend off-site meetings, conferences and training.
