Job Description
Position Summary The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs across Campus Facilities. This role ensures compliance with occupational safety standards, conducts training, and partners with internal departments to promote a safe working environment. The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in accident prevention, investigation, and reporting, contributing to the overall health and safety culture of the university . We are seeking a candidate who is not only well-versed in safety regulations but also highly engaged with the workforce. The ideal candidate will spend significant time in the field - building relations, observing work practices and identifying opportunities for improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Campus Facilities Safety Program, including safety committees and accident investigations.
- Develop and conduct safety training sessions tailored to departmental needs , including creating programs from scratch using various tools.
- Develop and maintain safety and compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure working knowledge of safety standards, including OSHA general industry and construction regulations.
- Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), University Health Center (UHC), and other departments to align safety initiatives.
- Work with Campus Facilities HR, MU Risk Management, and external consultants to compile and analyze accident data.
- Perform monthly audits of CF shops, identify safety violations, and report findings to management.
- Develop corrective actions plans in response to safety violations and audit findings.
- Maintain and update the Safety website, handbook, and CF Info library.
- Enroll new employees in the safety database and online safety training platforms.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong conceptual understanding of CSM Operations and safety management.
- Ability to analyze complex safety issues and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for training and policy explanation.
- Proficiency in safety auditing, reporting, and compliance documentation.
Shift
7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in Occupational Safety or related field is preferred. * Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred. * Possession of a Missouri valid driver's license is required.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year Grade: GGS-010 University Title: Senior CSM Professional Internal applicants can determine their University title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
