Position Description: |
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified individual to join our group of five physician-surgeons on the tenure track or non-tenure clinical track. Academic rank and track will be commensurate with experience. The Division provides complete and comprehensive care for patients with gynecologic malignancies in addition to performing complex pelvic surgeries on non-cancer patients. Our division utilizes both laparoscopic and robotic platforms for minimally invasive surgery in addition to performing open cases. We provide complex surgical care to patients which includes performing our own bowel/bladder surgery. Chemotherapy is administered through our division by faculty members, and we participate in investigator initiated, industry sponsored and cooperative group clinical trials (NRG/GOG). In addition to clinical work, responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is a highly ranked medical school where students learn to become accomplished clinicians, researchers and educators. Dr. Denise Jamieson, MD, MPH serves as the vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Prior to her arrival in Iowa, she was an OB/GYN department chair and therefore brings a wealth of expertise in obstetrics and gynecology and advocacy for our department. Her background ensures a strong focus on women's health as well as medical education and research. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology is associated with the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only NCI designated cancer center in the state of Iowa. The UI Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is the only academic OB/GYN department in Iowa and serves the entire state and its need for education, research, and clinical care of women's and reproductive health services. Education Requirement: |
- MD or DO degree (or foreign graduate equivalent)
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Completion of a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology

Required Qualifications: |
- Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in the state of Iowa
- Excellent skills in patient management and interdisciplinary team care
- Strong oral and written communication
- Demonstrated ability to teach gynecologic oncology fellows, obstetrics and gynecology residents, and medical students
- Participation in the academic mission of research and education in addition to participation in clinical care
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives

- Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Gynecologic Oncology
