HJF is seeking a Project Manager III/Simulation Engineer Lab Manager to support the Val G. Hemming Simulation Center (SIM), part of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), located at Ft. Detrick's Forest Glen Annex. The mission of the USU SIM is to serve, "The Military Health System and the Nation, in peace and war, as the preeminent academic surgical department for developing and executing innovative surgical education, training, research and readiness in support of combat casualty care, expeditionary surgery and disaster medicine, and developing future leaders. This role involves managing day-to-day operations to optimize resource use and ensure successful simulation events" The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to USUHS.

This position will be in support of Simulation Center School of Medicine.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.



  • Delivers excellent customer service by facilitating communication, scheduling, logistics, and training coordination among faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders, while ensuring equipment and supplies meet training objectives. Serves as the primary point of contact on event days and facilitates decision-making between all program participants.
  • Coordinates the design, development, testing, and implementation of training materials, simulation scenarios, and assessment forms to ensure alignment with training objectives.
  • Manages training for simulation operations and safety, maintains standard operating procedures, and develops after-action reports on training outcomes and equipment utilization.
  • Advises on manpower, workflow, and operational procedures to enhance efficiency while overseeing training events both on-site and off-site (e.g., Bushmaster, Gunpowder, ACME exercises). Communicate and collaborate with others, including but not limited to project team members, management and other key stakeholders about project requirements and objectives. Document and evaluate existing processes, procedures and guidelines making recommendations for enhancements and improvements as appropriate. Obtain approval for out-of-scope modifications.
  • Operates, performs preventative maintenance, and coordinates repairs on medical simulators, lab equipment, and systems (e.g., manikins, task trainers, a/v equipment, gas lines, air compressors). Manage operational elements of one or more individual projects. Document project scope and plan, confirming objectives, technologies, schedules, milestones and deadlines, funding, and available resources with key stakeholders. Produce and distribute project status reports and documents.
  • Oversees and tracks Hybrid Lab inventory, including procurement, budgeting, maintenance, repairs, and software updates, and assists with vendor communication and supply sourcing. Monitor project costs incurred. Prepare and maintain project budget and related reports.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 6-8 years experience required
  • Other professional licensures, certifications, or designations desired: CHSOS and/or CHSE
    (Society for Simulation in Healthcare)


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Ability to communicate clearly, work well with others, identify and resolve problems, and deliver results as a team
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of a variety of software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, proposal/project tracking, and data analysis software.
  • Expertise in operation of medical simulation equipment including task trainers and mannequins.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust Clearance.


Physical Capabilities



  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.


Compensation



  • The annual salary/hourly pay range for this position is $88,0000-$110,000. Actual salary/hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
