The Strategic Pricing and Manufacturer Relations (SPMR) team is seeking a Director, Business Insights to lead strategic, insight-driven decision-making focused on market dynamics and their impact on Brand Sourcing Manufacturer Relations. This role reports directly to the Sr. Director of Market Intelligence.

The Director will combine advanced analytical capabilities with a deep understanding of pharmaceutical market forces, competitive shifts, and supply chain economics to inform strategic choices. A strong grasp of U.S. pharmaceutical business models, product category nuances, and evolving market trends is essential.

This position will interpret market changes-such as pricing pressures, regulatory shifts, and competitive entry-and translate them into actionable strategies for BSMR.

The role will also focus on defining business requirements, testing, and deploying solutions that enable real-time insights into market dynamics, while also delivering dashboards and automation to support agile decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Dynamics Analysis & Strategic Insights

  • Analyze upstream manufacturer and downstream customer behaviors in response to market shifts (e.g., biosimilar adoption, GLP-1 demand, policy changes).

  • Identify emerging trends and assess their impact on pricing, sourcing, and contractual strategies.

  • Translate complex market signals into strategic recommendations for SPMR leadership.

Data-Driven Solutions & Automation

  • Design and implement automated tools and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into market changes and their business implications.

  • Collaborate with IT and Analytics teams to define requirements for long-term solutions, ensuring alignment with evolving market needs.

Strategic Decision Support

  • Deliver actionable insights in a consumable format for executive leadership, enabling proactive responses to market disruptions.

  • Partner with leadership to prioritize business questions tied to competitive dynamics, pricing pressures, and category shifts.

Market Research Integration

  • Combine qualitative market intelligence with quantitative modeling to forecast impact scenarios (e.g., new product launches, payer policy changes).

  • Develop frameworks for evaluating risk and opportunity across distribution channels and product categories.

Agile Reporting & Knowledge Management

  • Build self-service dashboards for rapid decision-making related to negotiations and market strategy.

  • Document architecture, SQL code, and maintain a catalog of dashboards and insights solutions.

Thought Leadership & Collaboration

  • Champion analytics adoption and foster a culture of data-driven market strategy within SPMR.

  • Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure solutions reflect market realities and strategic priorities.

Minimum Requirement

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.

Education

  • Bachelor's in economics, finance, data science, or healthcare related field; MBA preferred.

Critical Skills

  • 10+ years in strategy, or market intelligence within pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors.

  • Expertise in market analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning.

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain economics and category-specific dynamics (Specialty, Biosimilars, Vaccines, GLP-1s, Cell & Gene).

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, data modeling, visualization tools (Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI).

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into strategic insights for senior leaders

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $133,100 - $221,900
