Pay Grade Range: $63,554.82 - $79,443.52

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted pay grade range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.

FUNCTION:

  • The Business Development Officer, Mortgage Lending is responsible for driving the growth and visibility of the credit union's mortgage services through strategic marketing initiatives and community engagement.
  • This role supports the Mortgage Lending and Origination Departments by developing and executing targeted campaigns, enhancing promotional materials, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders in the real estate and lending communities. By aligning marketing efforts with business objectives and ensuring compliance with industry regulations, the Business Development Officer plays a critical role in expanding market reach, supporting mortgage loan officer success, and contributing to overall mortgage loan growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development & Networking:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive mortgage growth.
  • Establish strategic partnerships to increase visibility and engagement within the community.
  • Represent the credit union at public events such as Board of Realtors meetings, Chamber of Commerce gatherings, open houses, home shows, and other industry-related functions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local real estate professionals, including brokers, offices, and affiliate organizations.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to uncover growth opportunities.

Goal Achievement:

  • Drive contact growth for the Mortgage Sales Team to support loan volume increases.
  • Create and implement outreach strategies to meet or exceed performance goals.
  • Track and report progress toward goals, providing regular updates to management.

Marketing

  • Manage mortgage marketing activities to ensure consistent messaging aligned with overall marketing strategies.
  • Plan and coordinate promotional presentations and campaigns by identifying and organizing necessary resources.
  • Develop and execute department-wide and individual sales marketing campaigns.
  • Support onboarding of new originators and address inquiries related to marketing and campaign activities.
  • Maintain promotional materials in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
  • Guide and coach team members on database-driven campaigns and sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, Lending, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment and regulatory adherence.

Continuous Learning & Compliance

  • Pursue ongoing education to enhance sales effectiveness and industry knowledge.
  • Stay current on all mortgage products and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of application, underwriting, and disclosure procedures for Workers' mortgage programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and proactively collaborate with the Compliance Team to manage marketing collateral.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all credit union mortgage products, services, and programs.

Other Duties:

  • Adhere to all WCU policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participates in department and/or organizational projects as directed.
  • Performs other tasks or functions as required, requested, necessary or prudent from time to time.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all member and credit union information and data.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years' experience in business development and community engagement.
  • Familiarity with mortgage products, lending processes, and regulatory compliance.

Mandated Licensing Requirement:

  • Must or will be registered with the National Mortgage Licensing System ("NMLS") and maintain active status and accurate registration information on file. Provides changes to any individual information (such as an address or name change) as they occur directly into the NMLS system within 20 days of such change.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Strategic Marketing Execution: Ability to design, implement, and manage targeted marketing campaigns that align with business goals and drive mortgage growth. This includes understanding audience segmentation, messaging, and campaign performance metrics.
  • Relationship Building & Networking: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain strategic relationships with real estate professionals, community partners, and internal stakeholders. This competency supports lead generation, brand visibility, and community engagement.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Awareness: Understanding of mortgage industry regulations and the ability to ensure all marketing materials and outreach efforts are compliant. This includes working closely with compliance teams and staying current on industry changes.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to craft compelling marketing content, deliver presentations, and represent the credit union professionally at public events and industry functions.
  • Mortgage Industry Knowledge: Understands mortgage products, underwriting, and disclosure requirements.

  • Ability to travel to other locations as required.
