We are currently seeking an Apps Programmer Intern (PLC/HMI) to join our Plant Floor Automation Team. Do you have experience with PLC's or HMI? Responsibilities:



  • PLC Programming: Assist in developing, testing, and troubleshooting PLC code under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • HMI Development: Support the design and configuration of Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens for monitoring and control applications.
  • Project Documentation: Help prepare and maintain project documentation, such as system descriptions, wiring diagrams, and change logs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and programmers to support ongoing automation projects and gain exposure to real-world systems integration.
  • On-Site Support: Participate in system commissioning and testing activities; assist with troubleshooting and implementation as needed.
  • Client Interaction: Observe and support communication with clients to better understand project requirements and professional practices.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay engaged and curious by learning new tools, technologies, and industry best practices from mentors and peers.
  • Additional Tasks: Take on various assignments as needed to support project goals and continue developing technical and professional skills.

Knowledge and Expertise for this Role



  • Attending school for Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) from four-year college or university with an emphasis in some branch of Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, etc.) or Associate's degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical school with an emphasis in Instrumentation and Controls preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training
  • Experience in programming in the Industrial Environment, implementing Industrial Control Software (Startup) and experience in dealing with customers regarding system requirements
  • Experience with object oriented programming, user interface development, database systems, and system integration


Location: This position and individual will be based out of Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux Center, IA. This is an in person role and will not be remote.

Travel: The amount of travel will vary according to business requirements (may be up to 15%).
