Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $124960 - $165572. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Advanced Manufacturing group. As a Senior Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

S&C is the specialist in high-voltage switching, protection and control, providing products for the electric power industry since 1911. The Senior Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for advancing production processes to meet strategic initiatives across the company. This role will drive design and implementation of manufacturing systems with a focus on new technology and innovation in alignment with company goals. A successful Senior Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing is a self-motivated, results-driven team-member with the ability to plan and execute projects to meet business targets. The position requires a leader and collaborator; that is ambitious, organized, detail-oriented, and excels in project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development: Lead project team through Production Preparedness Process (3P) events to analyze, design and implement manufacturing systems that meet SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) metrics and long-term value stream strategy.
  • Project Management: Lead a cross-functional team of professional engineers and other supporting roles responsible for planning and executing projects that achieve the objectives of Production Operations.
  • Process Innovation: Research and select suppliers and other vendor partners with a focus on driving identification and adoption of new technology to advance manufacturing processes in alignment with customer expectations and company goals.
  • Project Reporting: Present project statuses to leadership using data driven analysis to inform process, equipment, and production decisions. Monitor project and process targets, recommending strategic changes when needed to meet deadlines.
  • Budget Management: Own project capital budgets of $10M+, including estimating costs and ROI, controlling expenditures and reporting performance to target.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the cross-functional team to drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance the quality of processes within the Manufacturing Engineering function and ensure results directly support improved customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering degree with equivalent experience

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering. Lean Six Sigma certification

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Required:

  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience in designing and implementing processes within a high-volume, high-mix or semi automated manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in manufacturing engineering strategies and tools with extensive knowledge in value stream mapping, lean six sigma, DFMA, and manufacturing systems design.
  • Proven record of leading projects with challenging scope, schedule and cost targets from concept through validation and sustainment.
  • Adept business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex systems to identify high impact opportunities, guide informed decisions, solve challenging issues, and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation); able to interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, from senior executives to support staff, and present compellingly to achieve buy-in from executives, managers, and team members.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting - Continuously required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for hours at a time.
  • Walking - Occasionally required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus.
  • Lifting - Infrequently required to solo lift supplies weighing from 5 to 20 pounds and some operation of hand carts.
  • Observation / Eyesight - Infrequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Communication - Frequently required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls.
  • Travel - Infrequent travel and work extended hours. Potential to travel overnight.

Environmental and Hazardous Conditions

  • Frequently working on the shop floor and office-based environment.
