Description
The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based scientific professional who serves as part of the Medical Affairs organization and in close collaboration with Clinical Development. The MSL is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and researchers to exchange scientific information and support the client's current and future products and research initiatives. This role supports the development and execution of medical strategies, ensures compliant communication of clinical data, and provides scientific insights specific to miscarriage management as well as future pipeline product(s). MSLs provide medical information and education through balanced scientific exchange and provide clinical and scientific support for the client and the Medical Affairs department at the direction of Medical Affairs leadership.
Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:
- Engage in non-promotional educational discussions with KOLs and HCPs on scientific data and options for miscarriage management.
- Present clinical trial data on efficacy, safety, and patient outcomes to internal and external customers.
- Serve as a scientific expert on the company's products, disease areas, and clinical data.
- Identify and develop relationships with Women's Health KOLs who support miscarriage management and other areas as the client's pipeline progresses.
- Share clinical decision-making tools and host education on patient-centered miscarriage care.
- Attend Women's Health conferences (e.g., ACOG, SMFM) to share updates on data and engage in KOL development. Conduct proactive discussions with KOLs and HCPs to understand the patient journey and shared decision-making related to miscarriage management.
- Through peer-to-peer engagement, identify barriers to use of medication to manage missed miscarriage.
- Use feedback to tailor educational content and address misconceptions or gaps in knowledge.
- Address accessibility barriers to use of the client's asset.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- MD/DO, PhD, Doctorate/Masters in Nursing, PharmD, Certified Nurse Midwife, or related healthcare degree. Terminal Degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an MSL or related role preferred.
- Strong scientific and clinical knowledge in Women's Health.
- Experience with ultrasound preferred.
- Deep passion for women's health, reproductive health, and family planning.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 60-80% depending on territory).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Possesses scientific and business acumen demonstrated by communication of complex scientific and clinical information to colleagues, academicians, and healthcare decision makers.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, team, written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical industry and related Pharma regulatory guidelines.
- Proven track record with defining, identifying, and creating relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and other external stakeholders.
- Experience in product launch support.
- Ability to be flexible and open-minded in a changing environment.
- Understanding of the Women's Healthcare landscape including academia, private practice, and hospital settings.
- Ability to respond to Medical Information Requests compliantly.
- Experience creating PowerPoint presentations and other relevant educational materials to support clinician education.
- Understanding of the managed care arena and the application of pharmaco-economic principles is desirable.
- Ability to manage time effectively and travel in large territory.
