RECEIVING AND INVENTORY CONTROL SPECIALIST

M-F: 1st Shift (7am - 3:30pm)

The Receiving and Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for facilitating inventory accuracy and availability. This includes assisting the receiving department with receiving raw materials as well as managing cycle counting and control of expired materials.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Perform cycle counts of materials, by lot number and location, including data entry. The primary focus is raw materials but may also include Finished Goods.
  • Must priortize which items to cycle count based on priority list and recent count history.
  • Update expiration dates and relabel materials based on recertification report from R&D.
  • Assist the Receiving Department with material and non-raw material receipts and labelling of raw materials.
  • Perform verification and signoff on tanker unloading.
  • Participate in the material movement process to ensure inventory accuracy, including monitoring Distribution Orders, Transport Tasks, and replenishment of materials in the Large Batch and CARC areas.
  • Responsible for adherence to safety rules, promoting safe work practices. Responsible for stopping and reporting any safety violations when observed throughout the facility.
  • As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety department or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the EHS department.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education level preferred: a high school diploma and/or GED.
  • Preferred experience level: Two to four years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably chemicals or coatings, or a warehouse environment with inventory control responsibility.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system, and other office machinery.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
  • Forklift certification is strongly preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Clean work habits and skill in handling large volumes of liquid raw materials.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand, and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls, and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb, or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
