Job Details
Our lab's research focuses on protein aggregation, in particular a-synuclein biology in mice and cell culture models of Parkinson's disease (PD). The research focuses on hormone or lipid-dependent changes that affect the a-synuclein homeostasis early in Parkinson's pathology. The PI's previous work demonstrated that upstream abrogation of normal a-synuclein multimerization induces a robust, early-onset motor syndrome and cortical and dopaminergic fiber loss in mutant mice. In addition, new models will be generated to analyze cell-type specific expression of other familial PD-type a-synuclein mutations. Effects include behavioral testing as well as molecular, biochemical and neuropathological analyses. Candidates within their first 1-4 years after PhD please demonstrate extensive experience working with mice, including biochemistry, histology and behavioral read-outs. Prior work with primary neurons is preferred. Only candidates with demonstrated expertise and publications in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology and animal husbandry should apply. Compensation will follow NIH postdoctoral stipend levels. Applicants should submit a cover letter detailing their research experience, a CV, a potential start date, and full contact information for three references. Company
