Reports To: Senior Director, Performance Measurement and Population Health Analytics

Position Summary:

As a core member of the Performance Measurement and Population Health Analytics team, the Data Analyst supports analytic activities associated with BCBSMA's goal to improve the health care delivery and health outcomes among BCBSMA consumers and their communities. The position will be responsible for providing analytic support to measure healthcare quality and physician practice patterns, identify high risk populations and improvement opportunity, and deliver actionable insight for the cross functional teams to design effective, segment-specific communication and intervention strategies.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the overall organization's efforts in measuring health care utilization, clinical outcome, and patient experience. Identifies improvement opportunities through analytics to help establish BCBSMA as a market leader in the pursuit of quality, affordable health care and unparalleled consumer experience.
  • Provides analytic support for both exploratory and production responsibilities in support of the ongoing work
  • Translates business questions into analytic hypotheses, data needs, and reporting requirements. Summarizes the analytic findings for business partners.
  • Generates and tests working hypotheses, aggregates, and mines data, conducts analyses, and extracts actionable results
  • Develops a deep understanding of our internal data systems and develops collaborative relationships across teams
  • Focuses on continuing to evolve and enhancing the state of analytic evaluation and reporting capabilities on key healthcare metrics

Education/Relevant Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, statistics, econometrics, applied math, or other quantitative fields is required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • At least one year experience in healthcare analytics preferred.
  • Experience with SAS, SQL, R, Python or other coding tools.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, like Tableau or Power BI, preferred

Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Analytically minded and detail oriented
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, and experience in applying analytical methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to concisely present issues, analytical planning, and recommendations
  • Effective relationship building skills both internally and externally within an organization with a variety of constituencies.

Goal orientated, highly productive and committed to results both as an individual contributor and as a team player

High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above

LocationBoston Time TypeFull time Salary Range: $67,410.00 - $82,390.00

The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
