Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager, Apheresis and Cell Sourcing is a strategic, client-facing role responsible for driving the growth of CCS's clinical collection network, including apheresis services, through partnerships with medical centers, clinical sites, and cell sourcing organizations. This position plays a key role in supporting CCS's end-to-end CDMO model by securing the upstream capabilities needed for successful cell therapy manufacturing programs.

This role requires a commercially driven, proactive individual who excels at building new relationships, identifying opportunities, and navigating complex service agreements. You will be hands-on throughout the business development lifecycle-sourcing new partners, drafting tailored proposals, developing pricing strategies, and guiding negotiations through to contract execution. You will also serve as the internal champion for ensuring new partnerships are aligned cross-functionally and ready for operational implementation.

    Identify and Develop New Partnerships: Proactively identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with medical centers, clinical sites, and cell sourcing organizations to expand CCS's clinical network.
  • Own the BD Lifecycle: Lead the full business development process from opportunity identification through proposal development, pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and execution.
  • Proposal and Contracting: Draft, customize, and manage proposals and business terms for service agreements, in collaboration with legal, finance, and operational stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with internal teams including technical operations, legal, project management, and finance to ensure feasibility, alignment, and successful onboarding of new partners and programs.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date pipeline of opportunities; track progress, deal stages, and client interactions using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Market Engagement: Represent CCS at conferences, trade shows, and site visits; articulate the value of our apheresis services and integrated CDMO model to prospective partners.
  • Account Growth: Expand services within existing clinical and site partnerships based on evolving client needs and sponsor program requirements.
  • Strategic Insight: Provide market feedback, competitor intelligence, and input on service opportunities to help guide CCS's clinical network and CDMO strategy.
  • Prepare various reports.
  • Attends conferences, seminars, as required.
  • Makes recommendations to improve business unit practices and processes.
  • Any related duties as assigned.

Travel:

  • Up to 40% travel within region and nationally.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in the life sciences is required.
  • Advanced degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Nursing, Medical Technology, Pharmacology, or related discipline is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience in service sales/business development, clinical services, or hospital partnerships or 3 or more years' technical sales experience with a CRO/CDMO or a pharmaceutical/medical supply company.

Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, as well as leading CRM (Salesforce) tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge in the drug discovery/development and manufacturing market (cell, gene therapy or, large molecules or, biologics) with understanding of the served and total markets available.

Skills:

  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Highly driven, self-motivated, and commercially minded individual who demonstrates strong self-motivation and a cheerful outlook.
  • Experience in acting as a liaison for the customer with internal teams and moderate communication, as needed.
  • Strong communication and listening skills; natural at relationship building.
  • Strong customer network in cell and gene therapy.
  • Experience and comfort working with multiple cultures and ethnicities.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.

Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires teamwork and the entrepreneurial mentality of "doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Superior skills in presenting, consulting, negotiating, and building relationships with senior management on the client's side.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Partnering mentality with internal and external stakeholder group.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $145,000.00p/yr. to $155,000.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
