Job Description
The Executive Director, Technology - Epic Beaker will be responsible for the strategic oversight, successful implementation, optimization and ongoing management of Epic Beaker across Quest laboratories. The role requires deep expertise in Epic Beaker, laboratory operations, and healthcare IT and will be accountable for driving large scale and complex initiatives, fostering innovation, and ensuring the system effectively supports the company's laboratories and business objectives. This leader will guide a team of Epic Beaker professionals, collaborating with senior leaders, technology, lab operations, and clinical teams, to ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards with the speed necessary to drive revenue. This position will be located (hybrid) in either Schaumburg, IL or Secaucus, NJ. Pay Range:$235,000 - $275,000/year + 30% Annual Incentive Plan + Long-Term Incentive Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation. Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for Epic Beaker, aligning with Quest Technology's and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for leveraging Epic Beaker to enhance laboratory efficiency, improve patient care, and support business growth.
- Collaborate with Technology teams to develop custom interfaces that build out value-added patient insights and experiences, differentiating Quest from competitors.
- Stay up to date with Epic system updates, industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the Beaker system remains cutting edge and compliant.
- Oversee the planning, configuration, integration, testing, and deployment of Epic Beaker implementation and upgrades across various lab sites.
- Drive optimization initiatives to maximize system performance, user adoption and operational efficiency within the laboratory.
- Ensure effective change management processes are established with exceptional adherence to support successful system transitions.
- Lead, coach and develop a high performing team of Epic Beaker Analysts, Specialists, and Managers. This includes transition from legacy knowledge to Epic.
- Build a culture of accountability within the team that demonstrates Quest's 5 Cs.
- Manage resource capacity, performance reviews and career development for teams.
- Serve as primary liaison between Quest Technology, Laboratory Operations, Clinical Leadership and business stakeholders regarding Epic Beaker functionality and strategy.
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external partners including Epic Systems.
- Communicates complex technical concepts and project statuses effectively to stakeholders.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators for Epic Beaker system performance and user experience.
- Collaborate with Application Operations to ensure the availability of comprehensive support models for end users, addressing issues promptly and effectively addressing root cause issues.
- Collaborate with and oversee the development and maintenance of training programs and documentation for Epic Beaker User.
- Ensure all Epic Beaker configuration and processes comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with Epic Beaker implementation and operations.
- Implement best practices for data integrity, security and privacy with the Beaker environment.
- Manage the budget for Epic Beaker and ongoing operations, ensuring cost effective use of resources.
- Ensure compliance with all FDA validation requirements.
- Forecast future resource needs in workforce plan.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field is required.An advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years progressive experience in healthcare IT with at least 7 years focused on Epic Beaker.
- At least 7 years in a leadership role managing large scale Epic implementation and teams.
- Extensive experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and laboratory operations workflows.
- A proven track record of successfully leading complex, enterprise level IT projects from conception to completion with an emphasis on vendor management, off the shelf software implementation, configuration and optimization.
- Current Epic Beaker CP and/or AP certifications are required.
- The ability to travel up to 25% is required.
