Position Purpose The SBA Lender will actively seek out new SBA opportunities (utilizing 7a and 504 programs) by developing customer relationships and exploring their banking needs. In addition to selling, the role will actively maintain and service the portfolio as well as looking for cross-sell opportunities. As the relationship owner, the role maintains close customer contact to ensure continued satisfaction and to anticipate additional financing needs.
Position Responsibilities
- Provides financial consultation to existing clients and prospective customers to help them reach their goals, as well as, potentially cultivate and maintain a long-term banking relationship.
- Meets or exceed pre-determined loan production goals by conducting business development activities.
- Advanced understanding of SBA lending programs, requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Originates sound loans opportunities reflecting attention to analysis, loan structure, and pricing relative to the risk and value of the borrower and bank loan policy, or prepares quality loan presentations for credit recommendations to appropriate loan authorities.
- Negotiates complex pricing, loan structure, and loan agreement terms on with borrowers.
- Monitors existing assigned loans to ensure complete compliance with loan terms, proper loan ratings, timely past due management, and problem loan detection.
- Calls on potential customers and/or existing client, as well as, Centers of Influence (COI's) to develop new business and increase or retain existing business. Develops a list of new "Suspects" and qualified prospects as per the sales process.
- Maintains an extensive knowledge of Capital Bank loan policy and procedures, commercial deposit accounts, cash management, ACH policies, letters of credit, credit cards and other bank products.
- Is thoroughly familiar with regulatory compliance matters that directly affect lending processes and be is committed to complying with those requirements, particularly the SBA SOP.
- Works with the credit and operational teams to ensure an efficient and quick turnaround to loan requests.
- Establishes a strong network of referral relationships in order to solicit new leads.
- Participates in regular sales meetings to promote bank products and services.
- Stays up to date with all bank regulatory and compliance training as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of Commercial Lending experience with a focus on SBA.
- Proven sales track record in developing new business.
- Ability to provide short-term sales results
- Knowledge of lending and banking policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Credit Lending experience a requirement.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Microsoft office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Abrigo or other commercial lending platforms is ideal.

Compensation:
- Base Salary Range: Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as relevant experience, skill set, education, geographic location, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.
