Position Purpose
The Head of SBA, reporting to the President & COO, will assist in development, implementation and management of a national SBA loan origination and management division. The role ensures that SBA loans are originated in conformity to SBA SOPs to assure government guarantees, grow the SBA loan portfolio and sell guaranteed portions to the secondary market for premium (gain on sale) income as desired.


Position Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for success of SBA originations, underwriting, compliance with SBA SOP, compliant closings, and manage secondary market guaranteed loan sales.
  • Effectively recruit, coach, manage, and motivate a high performance business development officer and SBA backroom.
  • Manage to and continually assess and re-develop the SBA "Credit Box" acceptable to the Bank and allow for reasonable production.
  • Communicate and reinforce SBA credit parameters to SBA BDOs.
  • Proactively lead sales for Standard 7(a), SBA Express, SBA 504, and Export Guaranty.
  • Identify industry verticals to become specialists as SBA lending experts.
  • Coordinate with marketing division to develop and implement digital and traditional marketing efforts.
  • Design SBA sales strategies and tactics to meet origination targets.
  • Drive SBA originations through SBA specific BDOs.
  • Develop reporting packages for SBA performance.
  • Develop (with management) and manage an online (digital) application and process for ease of application, underwriting and closing.
  • Establish periodic goals (annual, quarterly, monthly) for production and goals for borrower industries (verticals).



Minimum Education & Experience



  • 15+ Years' experience leading sales teams in a commercial banking environment with a focus on SBA lending.
  • Previous and successful management experience within Commercial Banking.
  • Experience doing business with C-Level executives and investors.
  • Experience in aspects of the SBA loan and credit process and a good understanding of how the banking industry operates.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, develop and lead a team of experienced professionals.



Technical Knowledge and Skills



  • Microsoft office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert understanding of SBA products including Standard 7(a), SBA Express, SBA 504, Export Guaranty and USDA guaranties.
  • Highly analytical in nature.
  • Experienced with directly negotiating banking products/solutions.
  • Knowledge of lending procedures and regulations.

Compensation



  • Base Salary Range: Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as relevant experience, skill set, education, geographic location, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.
