Position Summary:

The Education Coordinator will help ensure the successful implementation of the After-School curriculums by offering group leaders and teachers ongoing support and guidance work on an ongoing basis to assess level of engagement and to determine learning needs.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Serves as Educational Liaison for 21st century programming for the CBO, who is responsible for supporting the maintenance of grant requirements, such as but not limited supporting with data, scheduling, and communicating with tutors.
  • Connect with DOE teachers and stakeholders to ensure that the afterschool program is strongly aligned with the day school instruction.
  • Create and maintain a system by which group leaders/teachers have ready access to curricular and homework help materials.
  • Act as a liaison between regular school day and after school programs and teachers to ensure the afterschool program supports the school's educational goals for children.
  • Communicate regularly with the Program Director regarding curriculum implementation issues, particularly concerning teachers' and group leaders' materials/supplies needs.
  • Provide training for afterschool staff to provide support on how to implement curriculum and support student's academic success.
  • Participate in monthly Children's Aid Education Coordinator and 21st Century Advisory meetings.
  • Provide feedback on group leader performance through staff observations.
  • Meet, as needed, with the Community School Director and other school/Children's Aid stakeholders to give site updates and share feedback.
  • Additional duties as required by the Program and/or Community School Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's or master's degree in education.
  • 3-5 years teaching experience.
  • Experience working with elementary school students in urban, public education settings.
  • At least one-year experience working with children, tutoring, or teaching is highly preferred.
