The Safety Coordinator will work closely with our Safety Manager by maintaining a variety of safety, health and/or environmental programs to ensure practical, cost-effective measures are in place within the workplace to continuously improve our safety culture and to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate and provide safety training programs for new employees along with monthly and annual required programs in both English and Spanish.
- Assist with the creation of and implementation of various projects, such as Personal Protective Equipment assessments, Safety Data Sheet organization, GHS labeling, training organization and improvements, chemical inventories, lab equipment safety, and/or procedure updates.
- Ensures OSHA compliance through auditing required programs such as: powered industrial trucks (forklift), confined spaces, LOTO, fire extinguishers, hearing test and other programs.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions, compliance, and practices during on-site inspections and audits.
- Ensure corrective action processes are in place for responding to and correcting safety audit findings.
- Compiles required safety reports, statistics and other data as requested.
- Performs other duties and/or assignments as directed.
- Conduct or assist with safety-related training as needed.
- Develop department level safety committees and conduct required monthly meetings.
- Complete and document monthly safety audits of all departments.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis on high-risk processes to help eliminate or reduce injuries.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bilingual English/Spanish required with the ability to communicate verbally and written.
- 2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- General knowledge of occupational safety within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Previous coursework and training in Occupational Safety Requirements, Environmental, Safety & Occupational Health Management and/or OSHA guidelines is preferred.
- Some college, with classes within health and safety or a related field preferred but not required.

The minimum compensation for the Safety Coordinator is $61,082. Compensation is determined by a candidate's experience, education, skills, training, and the internal equity within our organization. Actual compensation to be paid will be determined upon an offer. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position will work between the Manufacturing and office environment. One can expect to be out on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of their time.
