Nurse Technician - Orthopedics

Location: Mercy Hospital South
10010 Kennerly Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128
Schedule: Part-Time | 24 hours per week | Tues & Thurs (No weekend availability currently)

Overview:

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
  • Before starting, candidates must provide:
    • Transcripts showing completion of Fundamentals of Nursing.
    • A competency skills checklist from their nursing school.
  • Nurse Techs must maintain good academic standing throughout employment.
  • Note: This role is only for current nursing students. If a student leaves their program for any reason, they will no longer be eligible for the Nurse Tech position.

Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one month of hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Prolonged standing and walking during shifts.
  • Must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience

  • Prior patient care experience (e.g., EMT, Paramedic, CNA).

Certifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) - applicable in the state of practice
