Rutgers School of Health Professions (
SHP) is seeking a Graduate Assistant to work in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions.
The graduate assistant is an individual engaged in doctoral studies within the department who contributes to both its teaching and research missions under the supervision of department faculty members. The main responsibilities including assisting in teaching and research activities.
To perform this job successfully, the selected candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Directly responsible for providing support to faculty mentor.
- Fulfills course work and research for their PhD at RBHS-SHP, research, publication and dissemination efforts as determined by chairperson or faculty mentor.
- Assists associate dean in providing faculty development support activities as directed.
- Teaching course and study sections and assisting with teaching as assigned including course preparation, delivering lessons, and student evaluation.
- Preparing and teaching entire undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned in areas of expertise with guidance of a teaching mentor.
- Assists faculty members in their preparation, teaching, and evaluation of students in their courses.
- Engages in research activities under the direction of a faculty mentor including but not limited to data entry, analysis, data collection and storage, obtaining consents, and study activities.
- Other responsibilities may include minor administrative assistance, student advisement, presentations at state or national meetings.
