Summary:

Goldbelt C6, LLC is seeking a Health Communications Specialist to support the Rapid Research and Surveillance Branch by managing writing and communication projects, developing high-quality information products, and ensuring the effective dissemination of public health content to internal teams and leadership. Serving as a key member of the public health communications and scientific writing team, the Health Communications Specialist ensures that reports, research summaries, guidance documents, grant deliverables, web content, and technical briefs are scientifically accurate, clearly written, and consistent with organizational and CDC communication standards. The specialist collaborates with epidemiologists, program managers, subject-matter experts, and researchers to translate complex scientific findings into accessible, audience-appropriate materials.

In this role, the specialist also leads DIDRI social media activities, serves as the communications liaison for the Arctic Investigations Program (AIP), and develops communication products such as fact sheets, website content, and presentation materials, managing the clearance process as needed. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with CDC's media team on multimedia products, supporting 508-compliant captioning, maintaining staff rosters and organizational charts, and overseeing the DIDRI Communications SharePoint site.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as the DIDRI social media manager, developing messages for DIDRI programs as needed, ensuring that messages are consistent with CDC social media best practices, and coordinating clearance and posting
  • Serve as the communications liaison for the Arctic Investigations Program (AIP)
  • Develop communication materials, such as fact sheets, website content, PowerPoint decks, and facilitate clearance for these materials
  • Work with CDC's media team to facilitate the development of media products, such as finished video products, B-roll, and photography, including captioning (508C) and facilitating clearance for externally facing products
  • Work with programs to keep staff rosters and organizational charts up to date
  • Manage the DIDRI Communications SharePoint Site

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse set of government and commercial stakeholders on technical contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, leadership, teamwork, management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to derive solutions to complex problems
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent judgement and decision making, with strong analytical skills; business intuition and business acumen

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Public Health, Journalism, Management, or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in technical writing and editing
  • Experience developing quality assurance plans and compliance documentation
  • Experience developing and maintaining SharePoint sites. Experience with Adobe suite, Premier Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, and adobe acrobat
  • Experience working with the CDC is desired to understand the culture and environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in project or program management
  • Previous experience with federal government agencies; preferably with CDC

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 annually.
