As a Nurse Aide, you will provide comprehensive skilled care and personal care to patients. You will assist with daily living routines, collect specimens for lab work, and ensure hygiene and basic physical needs are met for our inmates. You will also complete documentation and respond to urgent situations as they arise. Excellent care skills are required to identify and report changes in inmate conditions to appropriate supervisors. In addition, you will participate in treatment team meetings and emergency response drills, maintain an adequate stock of supplies and equipment, and provide comfort and safety by changing inmate positions, assisting with ambulation, and engaging side rails.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
  • Work hours TO BE DETERMINED.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
• Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

• This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry. SCI Mahanoy is a long-term care facility.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
