Position Summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Medical Control Officer Physician responsible for providing safe and effective medical direction to determine the appropriate level of care and facility disposition for all patients transferring into or between MultiCare Health System facilities.

*Has complete decision-making authority to facilitate capacity management across MHS. This
includes facilitating patient progression, avoiding admissions when appropriate, and working to
decrease length of stay.
*Provides system medical direction, and prioritization of patient placement into scarce resources to
help meet the needs of our communities across the MultiCare Health System.
*Functions in a multidisciplinary collaborative practice environment, where critical thinking skills are
used to interpret complex information and guide patients to the appropriate care facility and level
of care.
*Responsible for developing and leveraging technology to improve understanding of each CBU
capability and capacity.

Requirements

  • Qualified as 'provider' under Medicare or Medicaid programs.
  • 5 years of clinical experience as hospitalist preferred.
  • Board certification/eligibility (MD/DO) required for this position are: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Med/Peds, Hospital Medicine and Leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with data analytics, utilization management, case management, process improvement experience preferred.
  • Current and active unrestricted licensure as a Physician in the State of WA as well as applicable neighboring states as determined by geographic catchment area.
  • Privileging and Credentialing at all MHS sites.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $257,606.00 - $370,701.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
