NS2 Mission is seeking a Software Engineer that operates global infrastructure and software platforms that power high-impact mission outcomes. We're looking for a Software Engineer in Reston, VA with strong full-stack and cloud engineering skills who wants to design, build, and operate modern applications at scale. You'll work across the full software development lifecycle-from architecture and design to deployment and operations-building secure, cloud-native systems that matter. If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with modern frameworks, and owning your work end-to-end, this role is for you. Basic Qualifications: Experience designing and developing cloud-based applications using modern architectural best practices Experience with full-stack or backend software development and application deployment Proficiency in at least one modern, object-oriented language (e.g., Java, Go, C#) Experience building front-end applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) Experience developing in a Linux environment (Ubuntu, CentOS, Rocky, etc.) Hands-on experience with at least one commercial cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Experience building or operating containerized applications using Kubernetes Familiarity with infrastructure orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm Understanding of networking concepts and VPN technologies (OpenVPN, WireGuard, IPSec) Experience managing user access, permissions, and system security best practices Ability to troubleshoot and resolve software and system issues across environments Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Preferred Qualifications: Strong development experience in Java or Go Proficiency with JavaScript and modern UI development Deep experience with React, Angular, or Vue Advanced cloud experience with services such as EC2, S3, EKS, EFS, Route 53, and Load Balancers (or equivalents) Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD preferred) Experience with system administration and platform operations Familiarity with VMware or similar virtualization technologies Experience scripting and automating tasks using Bash, Python, or PowerShell Industry certifications in Linux, Cloud, or Systems Administration Experience supporting production environments and responding to operational requests (e.g., Jira, help desk) Position Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with an FSP Please be aware many of our positions require the ability to obtain or maintain a U.S security clearance which requires U.S citizenship.
