Purpose

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations related to receiving, inspecting, and managing inventory for the department Jester warehouse facility. Responsible for the receipt, storage, repair, and shipping of materials in a large size warehouse, and for the supervision of Store Clerks undertaking such tasks. This position will supervise the receipt and storage of all goods by using and understanding proper food safety standards. Maintains inventory levels, requisitions supplies, and supervises the transfer of goods between all UHDs residential and retail operations.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect warehouse, refrigerators and freezers for cleanliness and order. Maintain warehouse and food storage areas to meet federal, state, local, and university food safety requirements which includes taking temperatures, managing purchase orders (PO), and working with dining administrative staff to submit work orders on needed repairs.

  • Oversee the receiving and inspection of all deliveries to ensure that products match purchase orders and invoices. Verify accuracy of received goods and promptly resolve discrepancies. Conduct weekly, monthly, and yearly inventory. Review inventory analysis and work with dining staff to clarify any issues and correct data in Food Pro. Work with the accounting department to conduct annual physical inventory. Coordinate all outdated and unusable inventory to go to UT Austin Surplus Properties. Coordinate equipment transfers and disposition of institutional furniture and equipment. Attend and ensure safety classes are completed and ensure team compliance.

  • Supervise and oversee warehouse staff. Develop an effective working relationship and positively influence and motivate staff. Evaluate, coach, counsel, direct, and guide staff. Enforce UHD and UT guidelines and policies. Oversee training for incoming employees, anticipate, and identify issues and areas of Improvement. Manage all areas of Performance Management including staff evaluations. Work as a team member.

  • Schedule and supervise the receipt, storage, and shipping of food items and supplies. Order and maintain par level on certain foods and supplies. May drive university vehicles to transport items. Use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook to create communications, documents, and spreadsheets. Operate material handling equipment.

  • Coordinate and oversee the transfer of merchandise between residential and retail UHD operations. Implement and oversee use of computerized scan inventory system. Work closely with Catering Team, Unit Managers, Purchasing, Associate Directors, and leadership regarding needs for special events such as special meals, move in, orientation, and others as needed. Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED

  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.

  • At least 4 years of experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for property in a stores or warehouse unit.

  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food SafetyTraining and/or ServSafe.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience as a warehouse supervisor.

  • Two or more years of experience maintaining inventory control and purchasing.

  • Experience in a warehouse food service environment.

  • Experience supervising a staff of at least 3.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with inventory management systems, such as FoodPro.

  • Certified to operate forklift.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and timely achievement of objectives.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills and professional demeanor.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$48,000 + depending on qualifications
