Purchaser

Anning-Johnson Co
life insurance, paid time off, profit sharing
United States, California, Hayward

Description
The Opportunity

As our Purchaser, you'll manage the full lifecycle of material procurement-from sourcing and pricing through delivery and invoicing. You'll issue purchase orders, evaluate quotes, track pricing and expiration dates, and coordinate closely with vendors and the field to ensure jobs stay on track.

You'll also play a key role in handling specialized materials such as metal deck and fireproofing, coordinating production schedules, trucking, and deliveries. When issues come up-pricing discrepancies, shortages, or delivery challenges-you'll be the one who steps in, communicates clearly, and gets them resolved.

Beyond purchasing, you'll support invoicing and documentation through COINS workflows, maintain accurate shipping and receiving records, and assist with LEED and compliance documentation when required. Your work ensures not just that materials arrive, but that everything behind the scenes is accurate, compliant, and well organized.

Who You Are

You bring 10 or more years of purchasing experience, ideally in construction, and you understand how fast-moving jobs demand accuracy, organization, and proactive communication. You're comfortable working with vendors and field teams, confident reviewing pricing and contracts, and detail-driven when it comes to documentation and controls.

You're someone who takes ownership-who doesn't wait to be asked to flag an issue, track down a solution, or follow up until it's done. You're organized, reliable, and able to juggle multiple priorities without losing accuracy. Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or construction procurement systems are important, and the ability to read drawings or specifications is a plus.

Why This Role Works

This is not a transactional purchasing role-it's a trusted position with real responsibility and visibility. You'll be part of a collaborative team that relies on you to keep projects moving, control costs, and support the field. If you want a role where your experience matters and your work directly supports successful jobs, this is it.
