Job Title: Tax Associate / Tax Preparer Location: 100% Remote Contract: Initial 3-month contract with potential extension
Job Overview We are seeking experienced, credentialed Tax Experts to provide high-quality support to customers using a virtual full-service tax preparation platform. This role includes video, phone, and chat support, assisting customers with tax return preparation, handling complex tax questions, and providing an excellent customer experience. This is a high-volume, call-center-style position requiring strong technical skills, tax expertise, and the ability to manage multiple systems simultaneously. This is always a camera-on role - no exceptions.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer support through video, phone, and chat
- Assist customers in preparing their tax returns
- Navigate multiple applications, job aids, and research tools to address complex tax questions
- Deliver an excellent customer experience using tax knowledge and research skills
- Resolve customer inquiries promptly and professionally
- Document all customer interactions thoroughly
- Participate in required training programs
- Provide typing and chat support as needed
- Meet and maintain weekly KPI standards to remain in good standing
- Manage high-volume inbound calls, video sessions, and chats in a call-center-like environment
- Work hours vary weekly based on demand (2-25 hrs./week during season; 30+ hrs./week during April peak)
- Overtime is not approved unless specifically authorized
Required Qualifications
- Must pass the Full-Service Glider Assessment
- Active PTIN (must provide proof)
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA credential
- Must live and work inside the United States (no exceptions)
- Minimum 2+ years of tax preparation experience and 60+ individual returns
- Experience with tax preparation software
- Ability to navigate multiple software tools and systems
- Including tax software, MS 365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Dedicated workspace free from distractions
- Hard-wired Ethernet connection required (no Wi-Fi, hotspots, satellite, or Wi-Fi box connections permitted)
Assessment Process (Glider) Candidates meeting basic qualifications will receive a Full-Service Glider Assessment, which includes:
- Internet speed/ethernet verification
- Customer service questions
- Customer service video response
- Tax filing simulation
- Full-Service Level 1 (Required): Filing Status, Dependents, CTC, Multi-State, W-2 Income
- Full-Service Level 2 (Required): Itemized Deductions, Retirement Income
- Full-Service Level 3 (Optional): ESPP, K-1, Rentals, Crypto
- Full-Service Level 4 (Optional): Self-Employment Income
Training & Expectations
- Paid training provided
- Must complete tax training, security compliance training, and internal assessments before servicing customers
- You must pass the internal assessment within 3 attempts to remain on assignment
Internet & Equipment Requirements
- Use a hard-wired Ethernet connection (no Wi-Fi acceptable)
- Use cable, fiber, or DSL with minimum speeds of 5 Mbps upload / 3 Mbps download / 150 ms latency
- Not use hotspots, smartphones, MiFi/Jetpack, proxies, or non-approved VPNs
- Not access systems from outside the United States
