DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Monitor the physiological condition of cardiac patients during invasive procedures such as heart catheterization, peripheral vascular procedures, interventions, temporary pacemakers, device implants, intra-aortic balloon pump insertions, and electrophysiology procedures. Calibrate and maintain equipment used in the conduction of tests and the processing of results while following departmental quality control guidelines. Use of sterile technique for setting up the procedure, handing off supplies, and prepping the patient for the procedure. Measure and utilize electrical signals on an electrocardiogram during procedures to stimulate and record heart rhythm activity. Provide hemodynamic monitoring during electrophysiology studies and prepare reports for attending physicians for documentation. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree (or equivalent credit hours) in a health science area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Training in invasive heart monitoring. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
