ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Parking Enforcement Officer position offers an opportunity to support public safety and quality of life in the City of Mill Valley. As a visible member of the Mill Valley Police Department, you will serve as a community ambassador by helping residents and visitors understand parking regulations while ensuring fair and consistent enforcement. This role combines outdoor field work, customer service, and problem solving to help keep streets safe, accessible, and well organized.

The Mill Valley Police Department is a full service, community focused agency committed to providing exceptional public safety services in partnership with the community. As a smaller department, MVPD offers a collaborative and supportive work environment where employees work closely with leadership, gain broad experience, and see the direct impact of their work through community engagement and outreach.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, the Parking Enforcement Officer performs a variety of parking enforcement and law enforcement support duties, including patrolling assigned areas, issuing citations, responding to parking related complaints, preparing reports, and providing information to the public. The position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying conditions. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, one year of experience involving frequent public contact and independent decision making, and a valid California driver’s license.
