Job Description
General Purpose of Job: The Senior Clinical Informatics Analyst Analyst is responsible for designing and overseeing the overall informatics architecture, ensuring all systems are aligned with clinical goals and regulatory standards across University of Michigan Health.This strategic role emphasizes planning, data governance, and optimization of informatics processes to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. In addition, the Clinical Informatics Analyst Senior (Systems Integrations) leads advanced data integration and analytics projects, with a particular focus on bridging genomic and clinical data sources with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical trial management systems (CTMS). This role is central to developing innovative solutions for clinical trial matching, database development, and achieving interoperability across diverse data platforms-supporting the institution's mission to advance healthcare and research. - Design and oversee clinical informatics architecture, aligning it with organizational and clinical goals.
- Integration & Mapping:

- Build and expand databases within the current Division of Genetics and Genomics environment.
- Create and operationally deploy code that automates clinical trial matching and secure data exchange.
- Map source data from Regional Epic EHRs and pathologist-vetted VCF files to MatchMiner and OnCore.
- Transform and map data for report generation and direct EMR upload.
- Extract clinical data from OnCore and other CTMS platforms.
- Map clinical data to FHIR standards for interoperability.
- Analysis and Problem Solving:

- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues, implementing long-term solutions.
- Analyze complex clinical, financial, and operational datasets.
- Develop sophisticated reports, dashboards, and visualizations for clinical and administrative decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with senior clinical leadership to support resource planning and informatics strategies.
- Lead initiatives to improve clinical data integrity, performance, and security.

* Must be highly proficient in clinical informatics, with experience in strategic planning * Experience with data mapping, transformation, and automation for EMR integration * Familiarity with healthcare compliance and standards in clinical data management. |

* Required: High school diploma and a minimum of 9 years of clinical informatics experience OR Associates degree computer science, IT or related field and a minimum of 7 years of clinical informatics experience OR Bachelors degree in computer science, IT or related field and a minimum of 5 year of clinical informatics experience |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Expert-level knowledge of clinical informatics, data governance, and workflow optimization. * Strategic planning and project management skills. * Programming skills (Python, R, or equivalent) for bioinformatics/data integration. * Experience with REST APIs and YAML based specifications preferred. * Understanding of genomic data (e.g., VCF, HGVS nomenclature) preferred. * Knowledge of clinical workflows and informatics integration with Epic and CTMS (OnCore, OpenClinica, etc.) preferred. * Experience with clinical trial matching tools (e.g., MatchMiner) and FHIR standards preferred.* |
