What to Expect

Tesla islooking for aSenior ProcessEngineer to help industrialize our cell manufacturinglinesto enable fast and efficient deploymentat scale worldwide.Theindividualselected for this role will be the single point of contact for cellmanufacturingutility design globally,helpingdefine our toolutility consumption and connectioninterfaceswhile alsoactingas a review / approval gate for factory utility systems.

The individual willpossessa strong firstprinciplesknowledge ofprocess/ chemicalsystem design andhave an understanding ofhowvarious utilitydistributionsystems are designed andoperatein a mass scale manufacturing facility.


What You'll Do
  • Definehydronic(process cooling water,RO/DI Water)andprocess gas(N2, Compressed Air)requirements for cell manufacturing equipment(loads, connectionlocationsand types)

  • Conceptual planning of future cell factory hydronic / utility gas distribution (estimate required capacity and equipment, compressors, driers, boilers)

  • Reviewing /designinghydronic distribution systems (heating and cooling water loops, hot oil loops,pumps, heatexchangers)from conceptual stage to installation

  • Basic understanding of HVAC and exhaust systems

  • Interface with equipment suppliers, manufacturing engineers and tool installation teamthrough concept development, system design, detailed design, procurement,factory acceptance testing,installation andsiteacceptance testing

  • Cost / benefit analysis for localized utility systems vs. centralizedsystems(air compressors, blowers, etc.)

  • Coordinate metering ofmanufacturing equipment to confirmaverage / peakloads

  • Liaisewith local factory engineering teamsand regulatory bodiesto understand local process codesand applyto manufacturing equipment design


What You'll Bring
  • Degree inProcess or ChemicalEngineering or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Pipe flow modelling (AFTpipeflow, Aspen, or equivalent)

  • Experience withlargefacility infrastructure design (cell manufacturing, semiconductors,Chemical processing facility, etc.)

  • 3D Modelling software (Revit, Navisworks, BIM360)

  • Dynamoexperience

  • Excellent team and person-to-person communication skills
