We are a crossfunctional squad responsible for building and operating secure, scalable platform capabilities that protect customer data in increasingly agentic and AIdriven workflows. The team owns endtoend delivery-from design and implementation to operations-focusing on highimpact security outcomes aligned to customer trust, compliance, and reliability. Operating under the squad model, we emphasize autonomy, clear ownership, fast decisionmaking, and close collaboration with partner squads to deliver durable, extensible solutions at scale. As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a core contributor within the squad, owning meaningful features and services from concept through production. You collaborate closely with engineers, PMs, and partner squads to solve complex problems, drive technical clarity, and deliver highquality outcomes. You are accountable for engineering excellence within your scope-designing robust systems, maintaining service health, and continuously improving reliability, security, and operational efficiency-while contributing to the overall effectiveness and autonomy of the squad.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

- Design and deliver high-quality software components and services end-to-end, with a strong focus on security, privacy, reliability, and maintainability.

- Drive architecture and design reviews for larger features/components; write clear specs covering design, implementation, testing, telemetry, and documentation.

- Build and operate cloud services at scale, improving automation, availability, scalability, resiliency, efficiency, and overall service health for complex distributed systems.

- Troubleshoot and resolve live-site issues across the stack using debugging tools, logs, and telemetry; lead root-cause analysis and deliver durable fixes and mitigations.

- Implement monitoring, reporting, and telemetry to detect trends, measure success, and reduce operational overhead via automation/self-healing based on reliable signals.

- Collaborate across disciplines and partner teams (PM, security/privacy SMEs, other engineering teams) to align on requirements, tradeoffs, dependencies, and delivery plans.

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code/design reviews, raising engineering standards, and helping other engineers be more effective while owning a component area.

Qualifications

Qualifications - Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with distributed systems or platform SDKs,
  • Working knowledge of security principles (e.g., authN/Z, key management, PKI, crypto hygiene

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
