The Opportunity

Responsible for supporting case teams by providing technical assistance and expertise in their usage of server and cloud-based litigation data management and document review tools.

  • Engages with case teams to understand their objectives and workflows to ensure litigation applications are properly implemented for maximum leverage.
  • Develops expertise in advanced application features available to end-users.
  • Works with internal Legal Technology and senior paralegals to define best practices and ensure they are followed.
  • Provides direct, hands-on support to first-time, case team users of the litigation tool project start-up.
  • Provides custom training to case teams in the proper use of litigation tools for preparing and managing documents.
  • Functions as the "go-to person" for solving data issues and questions encountered by the case team.
  • Assists case teams with complex searching tasks.
  • Provides impromptu training to case teams as needed.
  • Provides one-on-one assistance to case team members for end-user assistance.
  • Provides hands-on support for unique or urgent case team projects.
  • Develops training materials and tip sheets as needed.
  • Designs databases to organize and manage case documents.
  • Administers database permissions and user roles.
  • Imports data to and exports data from various database platforms.
  • Processes files in preparation for data loads.
  • Analyzes and manipulates data to conform to database requirements or production specifications.
  • Works with Project Managers on document productions and document review projects.
  • Provides advanced technical support and coordinate with vendors and internal development teams as necessary
  • Troubleshoots and resolves data and general technical issues.
  • Works with LT Technical Coordinators in the implementation and integration of third party software tools.
  • Participates in testing and initial adoption of AI solutions to address litigation and data workflow challenges.
  • Assists with testing emerging litigation tools to maximize the effectiveness of services offered by the department.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Specializes in litigation tools used for managing case documents, chronologies and transcripts; documents reviews and contract analysis
  • Strong understanding of legal practice workflows
  • Advanced experience in broad range of industry litigation tools for deposition and exhibit management, chronology preparation, e-binder creation and document review such as CaseMap, TextMap, Everchron, Opus, Align, Kira, and Relativity
  • Experience in importing and exporting data to and from database applications
  • Demonstrates experience in the EDRM lifecycle, including document collection, processing, review, and production
  • Proficient in database administration tasks such as field creation, administering user roles and permissions, designing coding layouts
  • Proficient in term, keyword, index and concept searching techniques
  • Ability to manipulate data using Excel or text editors
  • Ability to describe complex technical concepts and ideas in non-technical terms
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting and learn customized proprietary software
  • Knowledge of file transfer methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail and effective problem solver
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, planning, and project management skills
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment
  • Ability to work well independently with minimum supervision, and collaborate effectively with virtual teams
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to perform tasks at all levels, from detailed preparation to high-level review
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables with competing timelines
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Mid-level to senior paralegal experience
  • Minimum of five years of related experience working in an Am Law 100 firm, or Corporate Legal Department

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.
