Our 1.5 million team members in 150 countries rely on technology to serve 40 million customers per day. Our bold team of hackers, creates software our restaurant team members use to ensure customers get what they ordered quickly and accurately. That's a huge responsibility, which is why Byte is on a mission to find the most fearless tech talent to join our software startup within Client!. At our scale, we are among the world's largest food-tech dev teams.
  • The Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) is responsible for leading highly complex, large-scale Byte BOH deployment programs across Client's domestic and international markets. This role owns execution across multiple concurrent workstreams, operates with significant autonomy, and drives consistent delivery outcomes in highly matrixed environments.
  • The Staff TPM is expected to translate strategic objectives into executable programs, resolve ambiguity independently, and influence senior stakeholders to deliver results-without being accountable for defining enterprise-wide BOH strategies.

Scope & Impact (Staff-Level Definition):

  • Owns one or more large, business-critical Byte BOH deployment programs spanning multiple regions or brands.
  • Drives delivery across multiple dependent teams (Engineering, Ops, Vendors, Franchise partners).
  • Impacts hundreds to thousands of restaurant locations per program.
  • Accountable for delivery outcomes (timeline, quality, readiness), not just coordination.
  • Operates independently within a defined strategic direction.

Role & Responsibilities:

Program Ownership & Delivery:

  • Own end-to-end execution of large-scale Byte BOH deployments, from readiness through stabilization.
  • Build and maintain integrated program plans covering technology, operations, vendor execution, training, and cutover.
  • Actively manage dependencies, risks, and trade-offs across parallel workstreams.
  • Establish clear success metrics and ensure delivery against committed milestones.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Lead and align cross-functional teams across Technology, Restaurant Ops, Finance, Security, Legal, and Franchise organizations.
  • Drive accountability with external vendors and system integrators through clear plans and performance tracking.
  • Adapt deployment execution to regional market requirements while maintaining global standards.

Technical Execution & Operational Readiness:

  • Ensure technical readiness across BOH software, integrations, hardware, networking, and support models.
  • Translate technical constraints into clear execution plans for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Validate go-live criteria and oversee cutover and stabilization activities.
  • Drive post-launch reviews and operational improvements.

Stakeholder Communication & Influence:

  • Provide concise, accurate program updates to senior leaders.
  • Escalate risks early with clear mitigation options.
  • Influence outcomes through data, clarity, and execution credibility.

Staff-Level Behavioral Expectations:

  • Operates effectively in ambiguous environments without requiring detailed direction.
  • Make independent decisions within program scope and escalate appropriately.
  • Anticipates risks before they become blockers.
  • Raises the bar on program management rigor and execution discipline.
  • Closely collaborates with the Byte BOH Product Manager to ensure how the items are delivered.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Technical Program Management or related roles.
  • Proven ownership of large, complex technology deployments in enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical fluency across software systems, integrations, and infrastructure.
  • Experience managing global or multi-region programs.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.

Explicit Level Boundaries:

  • Define long-term, enterprise-wide BOH or restaurant technology strategy.
  • Own portfolio-level investment decisions across multiple unrelated programs.
  • Serve as the final decision-maker for global technology standards.
  • Those responsibilities align with Principal-level TPM roles.
