Overview

Electric Boat is using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses extensively to solve fluid related problems being addressed by the U.S. Navy submarine community. These analyses are performed using both an in-house, proprietary solver and third party solvers, and cover a wide range of related applications, topics, and simulation sizes. The applications include attached high Reynolds number submarine flows, turbo-machinery flows, thermal-fluid and multiphase flows. We are seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyst/engineer who has knowledge of CFD software tools and approaches with varying fidelity capabilities, from light-weight modeling approaches suitable for initial design through to high fidelity, complex simulations. The role entails activities, such as performing geometry preparation, appropriate grid generation, suitable analyses, post-processing, and reporting of results. The engineer needs to collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders to influence key aspects of the submarine design.

Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Please ask for more details on how it applies to this opening during discussions with the department.
