THE POSITION

NOTE: This posting will close on February 20, 2026 or after 25 applications are received, whichever occurs first.

Are you a college student who is ready to make a real-world difference in the mental health field? Turn your passion for mental health advocacy into action as an intern with the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS). We are looking for a dedicated part-time Mental Health Survey Support Intern to join us from Summer 2026 through early Fall 2026. In this role you will play a vital part in managing data for surveys focused on Pennsylvania's publicly funded behavioral health services. Apply today and help our team improve mental health services for every citizen in Pennsylvania!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will serve as the primary frontline representative responsible for the intake and analysis of perception of care surveys, a critical instrument used to evaluate public services across the Commonwealth. These surveys capture the diverse experiences of consumers utilizing therapy, psychiatry, and inpatient services, including detoxification and rehabilitation centers. Operating out of Harrisburg, you will manage the collection of mailed responses and oversee the precise entry of data into the departmental database.

Beyond technical data entry, you will perform essential qualitative analysis by reviewing and categorizing individual consumer comments. This task requires a high degree of discernment, as you will navigate a wide spectrum of feedback ranging from expressions of gratitude and praise to urgent requests for assistance and the identification of systemic issues. Ultimately, OMHSAS will rely on your diligence to ensure that the voices of Pennsylvanians are accurately represented, directly influencing the quality of care and service delivery provided by our team.
