Key Account Manager - Consumer Products (Big Box Retail) Compensation: $150K-$185K + Annual Bonus Locations: Los Angeles (Burbank area) and Minnesota If you reside in Los Angeles, this position is onsite 5 x week in the office
If you reside in Minnesota, this posiiton can be remote The Opportunity Our advanced technology/ Consumer Electronics client is seeking a senior, US-based Key Account Manager to lead and scale our most critical big-box retail partnerships across the consumer products portfolio. This role owns the enterprise-level relationship and business strategy for top national retailers and serves as the primary decision-maker in the US, reducing reliance on overseas headquarters and accelerating growth. This is a managerial, high-impact role with visibility across the organization and a clear path to broader US leadership as the business continues to expand. What You'll Own
- Full ownership of business performance for major national retailers
- Executive-level relationships with VP/SVP buyers and senior retail leadership at retailer headquarters
- Quarterly and annual business planning, including: growth strategy, assortment planning, margin and terms discussions, forward-looking roadmap alignment
- Leadership of a 3-5 person key accounts team, providing direction, prioritization, and decision-making while empowering day-to-day execution
- Translation of global strategy into clear, actionable US execution plans
- Cross-functional collaboration with product, operations, logistics, marketing, and leadership to ensure plans are executed effectively
- Identification of risks and opportunities across accounts and proactive course-correction to protect and grow the business
How This Role Is Different
- This is not store-level sales and not marketing
- You will sit across the table from corporate retail buyers, not manage field reps
- You will make decisions locally, rather than routing everything through headquarters
- You will lead both strategy and execution, with authority to drive outcomes
Location & Travel
- Los Angeles (Burbank area): In-office, 5 days/week
- Travel to retailer HQs in Minnesota approximately 1-2 weeks per quarter
- Minnesota: Accepted due to proximity to retailer headquarters
- Periodic travel to the Los Angeles office to align with the broader team
- Must be comfortable managing multiple time zones and higher travel demands
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in key account or national account management
- Proven success managing big-box retail accounts at the corporate level
- Experience leading or managing a team
- Strong understanding of: retail decision-making processes, quarterly planning cycles, margin, terms, and commercial negotiations
- Track record of growing and scaling enterprise retail partnerships
- Ability to operate effectively in a global, headquarters-led organization
Ideal Backgrounds
- Consumer electronics, connected devices, hardware, or physical consumer products
- Experience working with or for international or Asia-based companies is a strong plus
- Brand-side account leaders or retailer-side buyers/category managers are both welcome
