Position Overview

The Senior Electronics Technician (NEXCOM) serves as a senior field technical lead responsible for the coordination and execution of site surveys, site preparation, system installation, system cutover, and legacy system decommissioning in collaboration with the customer. This role ensures that radio and electronic communication systems are installed, integrated, tested, and transitioned into operation in accordance with technical specifications and quality standards.

The position requires advanced technical troubleshooting capability, independent validation of installations, and strong customer-facing communication skills. The Senior Electronics Technician also provides field team leadership and technical oversight.

Key Responsibilities

    Coordinate and execute:

    • Site surveys

    • Site preparation activities

    • System installations

    • System cutovers

    • Legacy system decommissioning

  • Perform independent testing to validate power, grounding, and cabling installations

  • Confirm installations meet equipment specifications and site requirements

  • Install and configure mobile and fixed-base radio systems, including:

    • Antennas

    • Transceivers

    • Amplifiers

    • Power supplies

  • Integrate radio systems with vehicle electronics, control systems, or IT/network infrastructure

  • Ensure reliable voice and data transmission across deployed systems

  • Conduct testing, calibration, and signal verification using tools such as:

    • SWR meters

    • Wattmeters

    • Signal generators

  • Diagnose and resolve technical and signal performance issues in the field

  • Document installation, testing, and configuration results

  • Provide direct customer interface and on-site technical support

  • Lead and supervise field technicians, ensuring work quality, safety, and schedule adherence



Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D., 16 years of experience
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a public trust clearance
  • Senior-level experience in electronics, communications, or radio system field installation

  • Experience installing and integrating mobile and fixed-base radio systems

  • Knowledge of RF principles, antenna systems, and signal propagation

  • Experience performing system testing and calibration using RF test equipment

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and installation diagrams

  • Experience validating power, grounding, and cabling installations

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Experience leading or supervising field technical teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting telecommunications, public safety, defense, or transportation communication systems

  • Familiarity with system cutover and legacy system decommissioning processes

  • Experience working in multi-site or field deployment environments

  • Knowledge of network integration for voice/data communication systems

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
