ICOP, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic engineer with a geotechnical focus to represent our company and bring in new ground improvement projects in Richmond VA, Tidewater area. This position works remotely with client/site visits as needed.
Position Overview
We're looking for a motivated, technically proficient Area Manager to support preconstruction and business development for geotechnical construction projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. This role bridges engineering, sales, and operations -working closely with owners, developers, general contractors, engineers, as well as internal project teams to develop solutions, pursue opportunities, and secure profitable work.

The ideal candidate has a strong engineering foundation, understands geotechnical construction methods, and excels at building long-term client relationships.
Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in construction. (combination of geotechnical engineering, proposal/bid/business development responsibilities)


Essential Job Duties:

  • Regularly meet with customers in assigned regions to maintain and establish client relationships and new work (required travel up to 3 days per week)
  • Provide value to project teams through development of cost-effective geotechnical solutions
  • Technical promotion "technology transfer" to contractors and owners for key account development (geotechnical consultants, structural engineers, general contractors).
  • Present persuasive technical presentations to clients.
  • Identify and sell new and existing applications for Foundation support products.
  • Review project geotechnical and structural information and perform project evaluations to examine technical and commercial feasibility.
  • Prepare proposals and work with estimators and preliminary engineering to provide project bids for opportunities in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Understand customer goals and technical challenges and maintain our position as the regional leader in ground improvement
  • Maintain a regional plan that focuses on key accounts and sales stimulus activities including planned lunch and learns, workshops, trade shows and newsletters /mailings.
  • Work with project engineers, cost engineers, and project managers to qualify leads and opportunities.
  • Perform customer needs assessments and solution finding sessions.
  • Search for new clients who might benefit from our services and maximize client potential in designated regions
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs
  • Provide pre-construction technical assistance and education to clients as required.
  • Prepare a pre-bid forecast and other reports to monitor work in progress.
