Step into our Roots Blower group, a longstanding cornerstone of Connersville, IN, as our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist. This role is a key driver of regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and environmental stewardship within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs that protect employees, ensure OSHA and EPA compliance, and strengthen a proactive safety culture across the site.
We seek a candidate who preferably brings a degree in EHS or a related field and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other safety certification. Critical to this role is deep environmental regulatory expertise combined with hands-on manufacturing experience. You will serve as the subject matter expert in environmental compliance - including reporting, permitting, chemical management, and regulatory audits - while also leading incident investigations, data-driven risk mitigation initiatives, compliance gap assessments, and employee engagement efforts. Success in this position requires strong communication skills and the ability to analyze complex EHS data, translate regulatory requirements into practical site-level solutions, collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams, and effectively influence leaders and frontline employees.

EHS Program Leadership & Implementation: Partner with manufacturing site leadership to implement and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs and systems that align with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Stewardship: Conduct site assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies; prepare and submit required environmental reports (Form R, Tier II, air emissions, chemical usage, analytical sampling); and develop compliance assurance plans to achieve environmental goals.

Risk Assessment & Data-Driven Improvement: Analyze proactive and reactive EHS data to identify trends, reduce risk, and eliminate industrial incidents and health hazards; maintain monthly metrics within Gensuite as defined by the enterprise EHS team.

Incident Investigation & Corrective Action: Lead and support investigations for injury, illness, property damage, and fire incidents; perform regulatory compliance reviews, conduct gap assessments, and implement corrective action plans to closure.

Process Development & Regulatory Change Management: Review, revise, and develop EHS processes to meet evolving regulatory requirements and operational needs.

Technical Environmental & Safety Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert to manufacturing, engineering , and facilities teams in evaluating environmental, safety, and health impacts related to manufacturing processes, chemical use, equipment, and building design.

Training & Employee Engagement: Develop, implement, and track EHS training programs to ensure regulatory compliance and foster employee involvement through leadership of EHS teams and initiatives.

Enterprise Program Leadership & Special Projects: Lead designated Immersion Tracker (EHS Element) programs and support additional site initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:

5+ years of experience in environmental, health and safety management with with an emphasis in environmental regulatory

4+ years of applicable EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Bachelors Degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other EHS related discipline or 3-5 years of relevant work experience
