Job Summary

The ServiceNow CMDB Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. This role ensures accurate and reliable configuration data to support IT service management and operational objectives. The specialist will lead CMDB governance, support ServiceNow Discovery, align data with the Common Services Data Model (CSDM), and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance automation, compliance, and reporting capabilities. This is a temporary six-month assignment with potential for extension or conversion based on business needs.

Job Responsibilities




  • Implement, configure, and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and alignment with organizational standards.



  • Develop and enforce CMDB policies, standards, business rules, and procedures.



  • Conduct audits and reconciliation activities to maintain CMDB data quality and compliance.



  • Configure and manage ServiceNow Discovery schedules, probes, sensors, mid-servers, and credentials.



  • Develop and maintain discovery patterns and recommend optimal data sources for reconciliation.



  • Manage CI classes and relationships within the CMDB in alignment with CSDM standards.



  • Design automated processes to identify and retire stale configuration items and relationships.



  • Apply network fundamentals, including IP protocols, ports, and firewall knowledge, to support discovery and CMDB accuracy.



  • Support Windows and Linux environments, including services such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory, and manage service account access.



  • Utilize scripting languages such as PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python to automate workflows and enhance CMDB functionality.



  • Develop dashboards, reports, and maintain the CMDB Health Dashboard to monitor performance and data integrity.



  • Collaborate with IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure CMDB processes support operational goals.



  • Provide training and guidance on CMDB best practices and ITSM processes.




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.



  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working with ServiceNow CMDB.



  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, integrations, and CMDB architecture.



  • Strong knowledge of ITSM processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Asset Management, and CMDB governance.



  • Understanding of CMDB structure and alignment with the Common Services Data Model (CSDM).



  • Knowledge of network fundamentals, including IP addressing, protocols, firewalls, and ports.



  • Experience administering Windows and Linux systems and common infrastructure services.



  • Basic scripting proficiency in PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python.



  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.



  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.



  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification required.



  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.




Preferred Qualifications




  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Data Foundations preferred.



  • Experience with ITIL frameworks and processes.



  • Familiarity with cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments.



  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.



  • Experience with data integration tools such as ManageEngine OpManager or Microsoft SCCM.
