GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Engineering Manager directs all engineering projects for the product line, division, or department. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with KII's established policies and drive efficiency and profitability for production.
REQUIREMENTS:
4 year degree, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
8+ years' experience of related experience and/or education required.
8+ years in a manufacturing environment
Comprehensive knowledge of technical and/or business area of assignment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Computer proficiency in SAP and MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
strong math skills, knowledge of statistics required.
Strong presentation skills with forward facing role with customers and suppliers.
ability to travel up to 25%

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports production to ensure that products, materials, and fixtures are designed or re-designed, to meet customer requirements, quality and profitability objectives.
- Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the group.
- Engages with customers for resolving engineering, design, and technical issues. May travel with sales staff domestically. May travel internationally to other production operations as needed for technology transfer.
- Creates work instructions and other associated process documentation following documented procedures. Works closely with quality and document control.
- Directs specific studies and research projects. Authority to initiate and to sign engineering or design changes. May participate in merger and acquisition review.
- Plans and organizes projects. Prepares budgets, bids, and contracts. May participate in production design, workplace lay out and capital acquisitions in the manufacturing area. Reports on departmental financial plan monthly.
- Performs functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing expectations, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services. Prepares technical reports and data analysis using a variety of analytical tools.
- Investigates returns, product failures, part damage, customer damages complaints/claims. Works closing with quality team.
- Reviews and recommends contracts and cost estimates related to projects, considering impacts on quality and customer requirements.
- Assists in long-range planning and recommends targets and goals. Recommends changes and production improvements in areas of efficiency, speed, accuracy, employee safety, and customer satisfaction.
- May participate in drawing and specification review. May also be participating in new product review, development, and introduction.
- Motivates and trains engineers and other subordinate technical personnel, assigns, directs, evaluates work, and oversees the development and maintenance of staff competence. Mentor, coach and develop staff daily.
- Performs presentations to upper management on progress and status of various projects.
- Collaborates with outside suppliers on product development. Works closely with supplier management.
- Maintains and improves economical production methods with focus on cost savings, automation, and efficiency.
- Exercise a wide latitude of discretionary decision-making authority over all day-to-day planning.
