Job Duties and Responsibilities Directly responsible for all departmental operations. This position has responsibility for meeting production deadlines. This position is responsible for performance evaluations; wage increase recommendations and appropriate disciplinary actions. Responsible for overseeing the management of equipment, scheduling of workstations and workers, requisition of supplies and coordination administrative activities as required. Produce parts and products in accordance with the established safety, quality, and cost standards of the Company.
- Follow work schedules by department from the Master Production Schedules to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Ensure paint line quality by monitoring paint formulations, overseeing application, trouble-shooting malfunctions and quality issues. Ensure equipment is maintained properly.
- Work to ensure that the Quality Management System is met and upheld in all assigned departments.
- Help design and implement procedures related to areas of responsibility as applicable.
- Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
- Supervise and monitor employees reporting to you; including performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
- Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure production departments operate within regulatory and statutory regulations,
- Ensure continuous improvements are submitted, planned and implemented in all departments.
- Monitor available time for production.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations and direction of personnel
- Ensure all department employees are adequately trained, work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
- Create and maintain a staffing schedule with a redundancy plan to ensure deadlines are met even in the event of unplanned absences. Determine manpower requirements needed to meet product throughput requirements.
- Monitor performance metrics and take appropriate action, as needed.
- Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e. tooling, drawing requirements and interpretations.
- Ensure the department maintains a neat and clean work area.
- Determine department tooling requirements and prioritize job sequence to assure the most efficient and effective production process.
- Ensure cross training is adequate to maintain scheduling flexibility and redundancy.
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Physical - able to lift 40 lbs.
- Working Hours- full-time (40+ hrs./week) employment
- Personal Traits- Excellent communication skills with positive teamwork and safety attitude. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy while able to multi-task and trouble shoot.
- Display good leadership qualities. Be a role model for the department and set the standard of productivity, safety, and quality for employees of different levels to follow.
- Good organizational skills
- Strong ability to troubleshoot process failures. Excellent mechanical acumen and problem-solving skills are required.
- Leadership and influence - able to motivate a team.
- Ability to read, understand and explain schematics, blueprints and/or technical manuals.
- Possess basic math skills including ability to read and use tape measure, caliper and micrometer to the fraction and decimal.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and ERP (EPICOR preferred).
- Safety and Quality minded.
- Hands on experience in paint booth and industrial coatings including understanding viscosity and formulation a plus.
- Understanding of environmental and OSHA requirements.
- Experience with an MRP system and ISO
Education and Experience Five (5) years of diverse experience in a metal manufacturing environment and five (5) years of leadership experience. Metal coating experience is a plus.
