Overview

Our Nuclear Services Environmental Licensing Team is seeking a Radiation Protection Technician to join our team in our Oklahoma City, OK office location. This role blends technical expertise and safety leadership, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact. Responsibilities

The Radiation Protection Technician is responsible for performing and documenting radiological surveys in accordance with approved procedures and direction by the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with the site radiation safety program and applicable NRC license. The successful candidate must be familiar with operational checks of portable and benchtop radiological survey instruments, must be capable of accurately documenting survey reports in electronic templates, must maintain required logs and documentation, and be able to work in an outside environment.

  • Radiological Survey & Sampling: Collect samples and perform radiological surveys. Conduct routine and special surveys for contamination, radiation, and airborne radioactivity. Operate simple equipment such as air samplers, portable survey instruments, and radiation protection counting and laboratory equipment
  • Radiation Protection & Control: Assist in providing radiological controls during special and routine operations, routine maintenance, and emergency operations. Respond to contaminated personnel/areas and other radiological incidents and emergencies and participate in corrective action. Train others within a limited scope concerning radiation protection
  • Radiological Incident Management: Conduct and/or support assessments, audits, and other measures needed regarding radiological incidents. Prepare minor reports, log results of surveys, and perform personnel exposure accountability as assigned
  • Data Analysis & Instrumentation: Response test survey instruments and operate computer spreadsheets. Perform basic mathematical calculations, including scientific notations both manually and with the use of a calculator
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Perform necessary housekeeping, decontamination of equipment, clothing, and areas as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission endorsed regulations and standards. Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards, and other regulatory agencies #LI-MB1

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalentis required
  • Experience performing radiation and contamination surveys, preferably at a uranium fuel cycle facility
  • A minimum of 2 years of operational experience as a qualified Engineering Laboratory Technician, Radiation Control Technician or Health Physics Technician
  • Technical understanding of nuclear principles and operations
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including - routinely lift and transport of 40 pounds, frequently bend and stoop & stand and walk for 4-6 hours per day
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision and as part of a radiation protection team given broad and general program/project directions
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications
  • Anticipated travel for this position is approximately 10%

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

  • National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in the physical sciences
  • Proficiency with RESRAD models or RADMAN software

When salary range is listed it reflects typical compensation for this role based on level and location. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and education.
