As a Senior Buyer for High Voltage Batteries within Stellantis' Batteries & BMS organization, the candidate will manage one of the most strategically critical commodities in the global transition toward electrification. Supporting North American electrified powertrain programs, this role requires a deep blend of technical understanding, commercial leadership, and strong alignment with executive level decision making.

High Voltage Batteries represent one of the largest cost drivers and most sensitive technologies in Stellantis' BEV and PHEV portfolios. As a result, the Sr. Buyer plays a central role in shaping sourcing strategy, technology roadmaps, supplier selection, and industrialization decisions-often in direct collaboration with senior leadership across Purchasing, Engineering, Finance, Business Development, Legal and the Gigafactory teams.

Core Responsibilities



  • Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Leadership
  • Lead the complete sourcing lifecycle for battery cells, modules, and packs across North American vehicle programs
  • Build and execute long term commodity strategies aligned with Stellantis' electrification roadmap, localization goals, and regulatory compliance (IRA, USMCA)
  • Drive competitive sourcing through rigorous RFQ processes, cost modeling, benchmarking, and supplier financial assessments
  • Prepare and deliver executive level sourcing recommendations, influencing suite and global leadership decisions
  • Negotiate complex commercial terms that shape the multi-billion-dollar battery cost structure and associated long term supply commitments


Operational Execution



  • Manage day to day commercial performance of battery suppliers, including cost, capacity, quality, logistics, and contractual compliance
  • Issue and administer purchase orders, long term agreements, and non-standard contracts
  • Monitor and mitigate supply risks, ensuring continuity for all electrification programs
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives, including fixed cost recovery workstreams, benchmarking studies, and supplier value optimization activities


Cross Functional Integration:



  • Partner with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Finance, Legal, and Project Cost Engineering to ensure sourcing decisions meet technical, timing, and financial objectives
  • Provide leadership across global cross functional teams to resolve commercial or technical barriers
  • Deliver clear, timely reporting on commodity performance, supplier status, and risk assessments


Gigafactory Collaboration:



  • High Voltage Battery sourcing at Stellantis requires extensive collaboration with our Joint Venture partners, including global cell manufacturers and large scale Gigafactory investments


Strategic Impact-Working with JV partners directly influences:



  • Factory capacity planning
  • North American localization strategy
  • Long term cost competitiveness and TCO
  • Technology differentiation and platform compatibility
  • Executive level investment and sourcing decisions
  • This role therefore requires a high degree of commercial maturity, confidentiality, and the ability to synthesize complex data into clear executive recommendations


Support Global SFG (Strategic Functional Group) Leadership:



  • Lead global alignment on battery commodity strategy with Purchasing counterparts in Europe, South America, and APAC
  • Support global sourcing table decisions and provide consolidated recommendations
  • Prepare monthly SFG updates with SFG Battery Lead for cross-functional leadership
  • Drive harmonized global processes and best practices across regions


Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Act as a primary commercial interface between Stellantis Purchasing and JV organizations supporting Gigafactory operations
  • Align JV production capacity, cell chemistry strategy (LFP/NMC), and technology roadmaps with Stellantis vehicle program needs
  • Support JV governance processes by providing cost analyses, sourcing scenarios, risk assessments, and volume allocation strategies
  • Evaluate investment tradeoffs, capital recovery mechanisms, and long-term supply agreements in partnership with senior leadership
  • Ensure synchronization between JV industrial plans and Stellantis product launch timing, quality milestones, and supply chain readiness

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Purchasing or other disciplines that require significant negotiation and/or exposure to sourcing/project management processes
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, capable of managing conflict and resourceful managing complex assignments
  • Must demonstrate past results achievement and leadership demonstrated while working in cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required; must be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management
  • Must demonstrate strong organization and coordination skills for the Leadership team
  • Must be comfortable in leading a global, cross-regional team and demonstrate great planning and presentation skills with Sr. Leadership



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree, MBA
  • Automotive related experience and strong interest in the automotive industry
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, ability to adapt and to effectively. interface with cross-functional teams and with all levels of senior management
  • Self-motivated, sense of ownership and focus on urgency
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in solving complex problems
  • Experience in negotiation and governance of legal contracts
  • Strong skills in MS Office, PentaSAP, Excel, EBOM, GPSIS, WebCN, other systems
