Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Toolmaker specializing in plastic injection mold maintenance and repair to join our manufacturing team. In this high-skill position, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex injection mold tooling while supporting our production operations and mentoring junior team members.



Schedule



  • Shift Options:Afternoon (2:00 PM - 10:00 PM) or Night Shift (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM)
  • Work Pattern:Monday-Friday or Rotating Schedule 2/2/3


Pay rate:$40.50 - $52/hr(commensurate with experience)
Shift Differential: $2.00



Essential Responsibilities



  • Perform precision maintenance, repair, and setup of plastic injection molds ranging from single-cavity to complex multi-cavity high-volume tooling
  • Disassemble, clean, and inspect complex mold components, including handling tools weighing thousands of pounds using overhead crane equipment
  • Execute tooling changeovers and setups to meet production specifications and schedules
  • Troubleshoot visual defects and dimensional issues in plastic parts through bench work and in-press analysis
  • Operate precision toolroom equipment including CNC mills, lathes, EDM machines, and surface grinders to fabricate or repair mold components
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hot runner systems and components
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior toolmakers and apprentices
  • Recommend design modifications to improve tooling performance and longevity
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain 5S standards in work areas
  • Support production needs through responsive troubleshooting and emergency repairs

Qualifications

Requirements:



  • Education:Associate's degree or diploma in Tool & Die, Precision Machining, or related machine trades program
  • Experience:2-5 years of hands-on experience with plastic injection mold assembly, disassembly, and repair
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in toolroom equipment operation (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM)
    • Experience with hot runner systems troubleshooting and maintenance
    • Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
    • Precision measurement techniques and equipment usage
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning

    • Mathematical skills for dimensional calculations
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Effective communication skills for cross-functional teamwork





Physical Requirements


Position requires standing for extended periods, lifting and manipulating tools and components (with mechanical assistance for heavy items), and performing detailed work requiring good manual dexterity and visual acuity.
